SDG&E Solar
Christian Solar premier solar energy contractor
San Diego Gas and Electric has multiple programs to make using a solar system in your home much easier. They also have programs that help you reduce your power bill and save money. SDG&E is a 'Public Utility' so they sell the power to you at wholesale prices. This means it's not possible for them to give out free solar system, but depending on how large your system is and whether or not you need financing, their programs can save thousands of dollars in installation costs.
SDG&E Solar Program
SDG&E homeowners who want to add a solar system can get rebates and rate incentives. The rebate amount is based on the size of your solar PV system, which means it is key to have a professional estimate your panel size so you can get the most out of this program. This program allows homeowners to lease solar systems from third party providers instead of buying them outright or getting SDG&E to finance them. This provides all the benefits of having a large scale solar energy system in your home, but with no up front costs whatsoever!
California Solar Consumer Protection Guide
The California Solar Consumer Guide provides an easy-to-read overview of the various types of solar systems and SDG&E programs available. It also has a FAQ section and more information on how to get screened for rebates. SDG&E has a commercial rebate that offers up to $7,500 in incentives for businesses that install on-site renewable energy systems like rooftop solar panels or ground mounted arrays. The system must be 10 kW (AC) or less and meet certain eligibility requirements. They also have a program for large scale commercial projects with multiple sites, those who make at least 15% of their overall service address through on-site generation can qualify as well as those who buy power from SDG&E and sell the excess back.
SDG&E Solar Rebates
The 'Residential' program is for homeowners who want to purchase their own panels. They receive a rebate of $2.20 per watt (AC) or $1,000 for systems less than or equal to 10 kW (AC). Systems between 10-100kW (AC) earn rebates of $1.10 per watt (AC), 100kW-500kW (AC) get $0.30 per watt (ac). This alternative financing option provides up front costs that can help homeowners reduce the high upfront cost of solar energy systems. It also allows you to pay back this loan through your power bill savings which means there is no finance fees for using it!
SDG&E Solar Plans
SDG&E has a $500 rebate for homes who use less than 50% of their total energy during summer months based on April 1st to October 31, and they receive the same rebates year after year. This plan is available in 14 counties and allows homeowners to purchase power from an independent 3rd party provider at a lower price than what you're currently paying SDG&E. This means you can buy green energy while saving money!
